Hapuna Beach has been rated the “Best Beach in America” several times by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

Just a 10-15 minute drive north of our vacation homes in Mauna Lani, Hapuna is a great place to spend an afternoon relaxing and playing at the beach with the family. If you are here in the winter, this is one of our favourite places to bring the boogie boards and play in the waves. In the summer, it’s a nice place for a more relaxing swim.

Located on the north end of the beach, the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is the only hotel or condo along the beach. We like to stop by the poolside bar at the Prince hotel for refreshments while at the beach. The smoothies are delicious!

You can access it easily from the main highway – just look for the signs for Hapuna Beach State Park. There is public parking just off the highway exit. The park is open during daylight hours and there is a $5/vehicle parking fee (unless you happen to have a Hawaii state ID). The Hapuna Beach State Park’s facilities include public rest rooms, picnic tables, BBQ pavilions, and a small food concession.

It is usually pretty easy to find a great spot to set up on this beach. The picture below was taken in the middle of the day to give you an idea of typical un-crowded beach.
